How we went full-time playing music
My husband was playing a few low paying gigs outside of his full-time county government Computer IT job. He hated his job but gigs for free beer and tips do not pay the bills. Most musicians are like we were. They have families and financial responsibilities therefore living off of other people or living in a van is not a good option for them.
One day my husband made this comment to me “I need a manager that can book gigs for me. That way, all I got to do is show up and play.” My response was immediate, “You don’t work for a record label so that won’t happen. However if you really want to play music full-time I will help you achieve that dream if you are willing to make the effort required.”
Right now, I’m making the same promise to you. My entire working career is solving big problems with simple solutions while building profitable businesses. Therefore I had no doubt that I could help my husband develop his music business.
He soon committed to my conditions to do ‘whatever’ I suggested…even if it didn’t make sense to him. We got busy and soon after he was living his dream as a full-time musician. He and I are like one person so if he’s happy then I’m happy.
Now…how do I start booking gigs?
I actually could not find any other authentic full-time musicians to talk to or learn from. That didn’t stop me…it just made things harder for us. Now we would have to use trial and error to find out what works and what doesn’t. This was going to cost us a lot more time and money than we had hoped for. The training you are about to discover was born out of years of our own struggles.
We uncovered hundreds of ways to FAIL at booking paying gigs
This ‘going full-time’ thing could take the average person years to accomplish. But I wanted to do it as quickly and efficiently as possible so I could get TMoody’s music career set up and move on to other business projects. (Business owners contract me to launch new business projects quickly because that’s what I’m known for.)
It took pure blood, sweat and many tears to create a STEADY gig income exceeding $50,000 per year. But now life is much easier for us and it truly was worth it all.
My desire is to get you playing music full-time faster and with far less pain than we endured. This booking system is designed to help you avoid going through the costly years and pains of trial and error based on bad advice from people who have NEVER actually been a full-time musician.
Passing out your CD does not work!
One specific piece of advice we read and tried was mailing or physically passing out our CD’s to venues. Have you done this too? It simply does not work and if anyone suggests it to you, run in the other direction because they do not know what they are talking about.
But we DO know what we are talking about after 7 years of playing this game and I’m telling you now that your CD will sit on someone’s desk for awhile before it is finally tossed out. This CD method is outdated, expensive and has the absolute worst results for getting paid gigs.
I'll just get hooked up with a booking agent
This was my initial thought too. After all, booking agents would do all the work we didn’t know how to do. So I began to contact the few I could find. Unfortunately what I discovered would never help us go full-time. The real booking agents are not easily found and the bigger agents work exclusively with small record label artists.
I found plenty of “booking agent wanna-be’s” who knew less about booking a profitable gig than we did. They just love music and want to be involved with musicians. I don’t blame them for that. However as a business minded person, I’m interested in results not hype. None of those booking agent wanna-be’s had any real results.
The way we got hooked up with authentic booking agents was by playing many, many, many gigs. That’s right! They approached us. The real booking agents may eventually find you too, but only AFTER you are already out there playing tons of gigs.
As I write this we have done over 300 gigs in our new area. TMoody’s reputation is undeniable here. He is well received, well liked and well paid. He’s even in demand! Yet we still have not been approached by a real, authentic full-time booking agent since we got here a year ago.
So trying to get in with an authentic booking agent before building your reputation up in your area would be like trying to put the cart before the horse. No one wants to manage your music career until you have first proven yourself by playing hundreds of gigs. This means you must first build a profitable musician business worthy of professional management.
Learn how to become a gig-getting machine!
All of our full-time musician buddies are so amazed at how good TMoody is at getting gigs. Most of them took many years to get a full calendar and consider us experts of booking gigs because they have seen what we can book the first 30 days in a new city.
After completing the Booked Solid in 30 days training you will never have to wonder “how do I book gigs?” again. Once you have mastered this booking system you will be an expert at booking gigs too! I have made this step-by-step training simple enough for anyone to accomplish…anyone!
I don’t believe in ‘set molds’ for anyone. We all have different personalities, music styles, professionalism levels, etc. Therefore I have designed this training to be adaptable to your specific circumstances, target venues and audience.
Even if you are currently playing a few paid gigs every month, you will greatly increase your gigs using this proven booking system.

A huge benefit that no one else (with experience) will offer you
We get questions from our Small Time Musician website all the time about how to book gigs. I don’t answer them because they reveal a lot of inexperience, theories and hearsay. I can’t really answer a question effectively if people are not ‘up to speed’ with the basics. It’s a total waste of time.
Authentic full-time musicians don't like to answer your booking questions for a variety of reasons all their own. Once you become full-time you will understand why.
This is the #1 reason why I developed this training. Once you are in the training I will be able to give you specific answers about booking gigs within 24 hours…even beyond your 30 day training! I am always communicating with musicians and agents that have completed my course. They know they can email me anytime to give updates or ask questions and you can too.
What this training has done for others…it can do for you too!
Here are a few comments from people who have enrolled in our BOOKED SOLID IN 30 DAYS! email training program...
| “All of the material was extremely relevant, well-written, to the point,
and Jill is very knowledgeable in the business aspect of music -
probably the best of anyone I've had the opportunity to talk with. I
learned much valuable information that I expect to use from now on as a Musician. Jill has been a tremendous inspiration to me!” – Nancy Stars |
“Hi Jill, I love your training and it is actually helping me more than I thought it would. It’s obvious you know what you are talking about. The only thing I hate is that my ‘competition’ has access to it too." – The Right Stuff |
| “I’m a DJ so I wasn’t sure if your training would benefit me as much. But the way you designed it works for anybody who has a good show to perform. I’m in week 2 of my training but I wanted to thank you for making it for people who aren’t just guitar players. I’m done with segment 4 and I can’t wait to see what you have in the next email.” – Reggie Parlor |
“I was only
getting about 3-4 gigs every month and couldn’t figure out what I was
doing wrong. Then I bought your Booked Solid Training and followed it
exactly as you designed it. It completely filled in the gaps for me and
my monthly gigs immediately doubled. Now that I know the tricks I need,
by next month I will be booked solid!” – Natalie Fuller |
| "Jill's responses to my personal situations were especially valuable and
encouraging to me. There are so few people I have to really talk with
about "how to sell our Duo". She had helpful suggestions for every
problem or situation I asked about." - NancyandStanMusic.com |
“Jill, you have
raised us up the next level. We booked $850 worth of gigs before our 30 day training was done. Your booking system rocks!” – Blue Shell Suicide |
Once we had mastered our hometown we wondered “Will our gig booking system work in an area where we no one knows who TMoody is?” By this time we had 2 booking agents and gigs were plentiful. We could actually pick and choose our gigs. But we had taken TMoody music as far as it could go in our small resort town of Myrtle Beach, SC. We were now a big fish in a small pond.
We wanted more. We wanted to travel and expand TMoody’s fan base across the US. I had recently sold my investment properties that kept us tied down and our kids were young adults making their own way in the world. We now had the freedom to relocate and really test our gig booking system over and over.
If we had not left our own comfort zone of easy gigs, family, friends and familiarity, you would not be reading this now. We didn’t set out to ‘teach anyone’ it just started happening that way as the years, gigs and new cities passed.
In Nashville and Austin my husband was one of the few musicians who got $100-$150 for every solo gig he played. Houston and Dallas paid even more. We had to constantly tweak then analyze our methods in these new ‘unconquered’ areas.
We were determined to prove to ourselves that our gig booking system actually worked every time we implemented it. Then we wondered, “What if we lived in a lower populated area…will this booking system still work?”
So we moved to a remote town in Colorado and spent the first 30 days doing our Booked Solid methods. It was a little tougher with lower population but he filled his calendar with 48 gigs. (These gigs were scheduled for the following 2 months) He also turned down a lot of gigs that could not afford our minimum fee.
We played 50 new places and over 200 gigs in 9 months. Almost all of these gigs were within a 45 minute drive and paid fees between $100 and $300 each. All of our tips and CD sales are not even included in these figures.
Now that I was totally confident of the results that our finely tuned booking system can work most anywhere, I wanted to share it with other musicians so they could live their dream like we were able to do. If it could fail, I wouldn’t even offer it to you. I have plenty of other stuff I can do.
How your Booked Solid training works:
You will receive your first BOOKED SOLID IN 30 DAYS! email training segment within 48 hours. Then over the next 30 days you will receive 9 more segments with specific actions and information to teach, prepare and instruct you on what to do next and how to do it.
This is a step-by-step program designed for flexibility so you can adapt your own music style and personality. Your training segments will give you time to carry out the segment instructions before the next one arrives.
If you do what the training teaches within the time frames I’ve given, (time frames are a big key) you will have 2-8 gigs booked before your 30 day training is completed.
That’s about $500-$1000 for most musicians!
Your final training segment on day 30 will help you stay consistent so that the next month things will begin to snowball for you. It becomes even easier to book gigs by month #3 because your phone actually rings a lot more now.
Honestly, I have set the enrollment price is set to weed people out. Anyone unwilling to invest money to build their music business will never be successful in their own business anyway. They do not qualify for my time, effort or this valuable information.
Sounds harsh, but remember I’m a business person not an artist. I may not know how to make music, but I’m very accomplished in how to make money. TIME is far more valuable than MONEY and I’m saving musicians BOTH!
Wait! Before you enroll…do you even qualify for this training?
Before you invest money, you need to know something...let’s be totally honest with each other before you spend your money. If you are not really that talented, then going full-time will not work for you because re-booking will not occur.
Also, if you are not willing to play cover songs then going full-time will probably never happen for you either. I’m all about HOPE but never about giving FALSE HOPE!
I've made this training so simple that any qualified musician can do it. I am confident in telling you that if this training doesn't work for you...you have missed an instruction somewhere or did not keep to the training segment's critical time frame. This means you simply begin again the next month but with a little more knowledge this time.
100% money back guarantee means you have nothing to lose!
The musicians, DJ’s, agents and managers who have completed the steps of this training were very happy that they were able to use this training to increase their gigs. Some even went from zero to hero in a short period of time.
But I want to make sure you are satisfied too. If you complete your training and are unsatisfied with your results I will refund 100% of what you paid for the training for up to 60 days from your purchase date. I’m proud to say that (so far) I have never had a refund request.
Honestly, not everyone completes the training or they may skip some steps. I can’t guarantee your success because I don’t know much about your work ethic or your ability to follow instructions. I knew my husband would work hard and follow the plan so I gladly helped him just like I’m here to help you too.
I can promise that once you complete the training, you will have a skill that almost all musicians lack…the skill of getting lots of paid gigs. You can even do like we did and take this unique skill to any place you want to live.
We feel secure knowing if we choose to relocate we are only months away from creating a decent gigging income. We’ve done it enough times.
Most musicians would have to get a day job and start all over again…but not us…we hate going to a job and working for someone else's dream. We’d rather put our time and energy into our own dreams and live a lifestyle of freedom. How about you?
What kinds of musician will this work for?
Singer, Rapper, Hip Hop
If you are a singer or a rap artist, it’s a no-brainer…this is for you. (Note: for the record…I believe vocalists are musicians who carry their instrument within) Vocalists can host Karaoke gigs, even sing over tracks, duo up, or at least, sing with a working band. If a vocalist plays piano or guitar, that’s even better.
Guitar Player
If you are a guitar player and you can sing, (lucky dog) you will make more money as a solo artist, maybe even a duo. If you can’t sing well, then you can get instrumental (restaurant, winery type) gigs. Otherwise you can duo up with a vocalist…hopefully one that plays an instrument.
Drummer
If you are a drummer, then you can make solo income hosting open jams. Bar owners love this because you bring out a lot of amateur musicians who bring people to watch them play. Amateur and part-time musicians love it because you provide a drum set and other musicians to play. All they have to do is bring their instrument or drumsticks.
Other Instruments
If you play flute, violin, sax, bass, etc. then your best bet is to duo up. Otherwise hosting open mic gigs will work well for you. Be sure to offer a CD to the returning musicians. This builds a solid following because they always have incentive to come back next week to claim their CD.
Booking agents, musician managers
If you are a ‘small time’ booking agent, or manager then you can’t afford to be without this information. Most of you constantly have musicians who contact you asking you to book them. If you want better results booking your artists then you will certainly find that missing link during your 30 day email training.
I have a lot of music managers from independent labels who have raved over the information found in this training. Some even ask their potential artist to enroll in the BOOKED SOLID IN 30 DAYS! training before working with them. They tell me this helps them to ‘qualify’ the artist before investing their time and energy into them. I was told by a few managers that if an artist won’t enroll they will not represent them.
I couldn’t agree more. We were willing to do anything and invest everything because we were serious about playing music full-time. If TMoody had been unwilling to learn and do these things, I would have never helped him either. He would still have his day job and earning far less money than he does now.
